 Christian Youth Centres (CYC)
(Translation:
Articles 1 and 2 only)

Preamble
The declarations of intent of the founding members. The Christian Youth Centres (CYC) was founded in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in January 2000. The Association was formally organized at a first meeting in Geneva, in April 2003 according to the following statutes.

Constitution, objectives and Seat and Duration

Article 1
Under the name of Christian Youth Centres (CYC) an Association is created with a non-lucrative objective governed by these statutes and by articles 60 onwards of the Swiss Civil law. It is politically neutral and independent of any confession.  

Article 2
The purpose of the Association is:

I. Social Objective

1.   To provide an environment, free of any charge, where young people can meet others and strengthen their relationships.

2.   To provide free access to a computer and free computer courses for beginners.

3.   To provide free access to a library with Christian books.

4.   To provide a place where students can study after school or university and discuss their homework together.

5.   A place which enables the local people to develop their own social vision for their needs andlocal requirements.

II.  Spiritual Objective

1.    To give Christians of all denominations, a framework which offers the means for fellowship and fraternity with other Christians, particularly among youth.

2.    To encourage unity between Christians of all denominations/ churches, by organizing meetings and projects between the denominations.

3.    To encourage prayer meetings and bible discussions.

4.     To encourage young people to give priority to the kingdom of God in their life, not by the teaching of specific doctrines, but by the encouragement to discover a personal relationship with Christ.

5.     A place that makes it possible for the local people to develop their own spiritual vision for their needs and local requirements.
